The ABC's of Seizure Management:

This is an all encompassing program developed in 1999 as a result of large public forums and focus groups. This program features:

A.) Educational Videos/Public Service Announcements (available in English and French)

         A series of 30 to 60 second educational videos/public service announcements delivering information about the main seizure types, first aid procedures, and anti- discrimination messages. Across Canada, they have helped teach students, teachers, and health professionals while delivering a visual resource and education tool about epilepsy.

Support Programs


Group Support Programs

            Support groups facilitated by a psychologist, for parents and individuals of all ages with epilepsy (and their siblings) that are scheduled throughout the year.

 

Client Support

          Contact with individuals and families facing similar needs and issues. Free access to counseling with a professional psychologist, advocacy, and referrals to other community support agencies.


          This program provides information and free annual events that are fundamental to get support and peer interaction for those who live with epilepsy.


Annual program events include:

* Community Day-March 26th Purple Day.


* Children's Christmas Party


          The opportunity to participate in a variety of physical and social activities. Children, teens and their families, are invited to attend. The program also provides positive interaction with peers


* Adult Christmas Party


          Individuals who live with epilepsy and their families are invited to a festive celebration.  The program supports peer interaction, access to professional support and distribution of educational materials.
